Fall Festivals

Jennifer Waldera

The advent of cooler weather and changing leaves also brings an abundance of events to enjoy in fall. We rounded up a handful of our favorites (many of them worthy fundraisers) to check out in the coming weeks as you switch from flops and shorts to boots and hoodies.

Madonnari Arts Festival - Little Italy - October 1- 4

Paying homage to Italy’s street artists, this street painting festival and competition in Baltimore’s Little Italy will feature food, wine, music, and dance. Various events are scheduled throughout Little Italy during the celebration, but feel free to just grab an outdoor table at a local spot in the neighborhood to sip some vino, nibble some noshes, and watch the artists.

Fell’s Point Fun Festival - Fell’s Point - October 2-4

The annual festival, in its 49th year, features bands, beer gardens, vendors of various goods, and a variety of food and drinks on the waterfront.

In its 6th year, this annual fundraiser to benefit Days of Taste (an organization devoted to educating and inspiring elementary aged children about food and healthy eating habits) features 30 chefs partnered with local farms in a competition to win the prize for the most innovative dish created with local ingredients. Baltimore Bartenders’ Guild mixologists will be on hand to shake and stir some cocktails using local ingredients from the participating farms as well.

Entry to the festival is free and oyster tickets can be purchased five for $20 or one for $5. Each oyster ticket can be redeemed for one plate of three oysters.
