New Year's Eve Dinner Specials In Baltimore

Carrie Murphy

Well, now that Christmas is behind us, New Year's is on the horizon. I always find New Year's Eve a strange holiday, one that I'm not necessarily always up for celebrating with a wild night out, but also one where I feel really lame chilling at home in my PJs. The happy medium?  A festive dinner, of course! Dressing up a bit and going out for a delicious meal always makes me feel a little fun and fancy, but without the customary New Year's Day hangover (depending on how much champagne is flowing at your dinner table....duh).

7 West Bistro in Towson is one of our favorite American bistro-type eateries in the area. A 3-course "Early Bird" menu will be served from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m (From 8:30 p.m. on, the bistro will serve a banquet-style menu). It's $35 per person and will feature ahi tuna, strip steak, crabcake, cheesecake and more. $35 is a great value for a meal like this so if you live nearby, check it out.

City Cafe is offering a New Year's Eve dinner, $75 prix fixe with an included champagne toast. It's a three course dinner (Appetizer is Toast, Dinner is Celebrate and Dessert is Kiss...aww!) and offerings include lobster bisque, rockfish, duck, creme brulee and more.

Langermann's in Canton is offering a creative New Year's Eve dinner: a tribute to Julia Child! Sign me up! It'll be a four-course menu of classic French cuisine including French onion soup, roasted pheasant and, for dessert, cream puffs and more. The cost is $50 ($75 with wine pairings). I bet reservations for this one are going quickly, so if this sounds as awesome to you as it does to me, stop reading this and pick up your phone!

Heavy Seas Alehouse, named one of Baltimore's best new restaurants by both The Sun and City Paper, would be a fun place to go on the 31st. We haven't been yet, but we hear the food is as good as the beer. Heavy Seas will be serving their regular menu and will also offer a $48 three course prix fixe. if you want to try another new, well-reviewed spot, Fleet Street Kitchen has a $99 prix fixe menu which includes lobster pumpkin soup and slow-roasted venison. Yum.

Tequila! If that word is music to your ears, you should head over to Miguel's Cocina and Cantina for your New Year's Eve festivities. For $65, you'll get a five-course meal, a ten tequila tasting and an awesome view of the fireworks display from Locust Point.

Other options include Petit Louis in Roland Park, 13.5 Wine Bar in Hampden, Wit & Wisdom, and more. Reservations are most likely getting scarce, but if you're set on going out, we also recommend trying a local spot in your own neighborhood, or one of the many eateries in Little Italy. We were able to get a last-minute reservation at Germano's for Christmas Eve and we loved the lobster ravioli!
