There Will Be Bloody Marys in Baltimore

Carrie Murphy

Baltimore is a brunch town. Walk the streets on a sunny weekend morning and you're bound to see scores of diners enjoying brunch, munching on eggs and bacon, sipping on bottomless mimosas and  Bloody Marys. In addition to a big greasy meal, common knowledge says the hair of the dog that bit you (aka more alcohol) is the best cure for a hangover. If you subscribe to that way of thinking, you're in luck: we've rounded up the best Bloodys in Baltimore. Just don't try them all at once.

An Poitin Stil in Timonium actually offers a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar. We recommend enjoying a custom bloody alongside one of their made-to-order omelets. And if Bloodys aren't your thing, enjoy a beer from their huge selection (water's fine too, don't forget to rehydrate!)

One-Eyed Mike's has a popular, super-spicy Bloody Mary that includes crab in the mix and Old Bay on the rim. One patron said it's like "a meal in a glass." Perennially popular Miss Shirley's offers a similar Bloody, as well as a classic option. Bad Decisions' has a bacon Bloody Mary that people simply rave about.

And if you like oysters, we've got a few more suggestions for you. Ryleigh's Oyster Bar in Federal Hill also offers a Bloody Mary Bar, which you can enjoy alongside an oyster shooter. Their regular menu boasts a "Bloody Maryland," with an oyster right in the glass along with the tomato juice and Old Bay. Thames St Oyster House has great Bloody Marys that you can enjoy alongside their a la carte oyster bar, which features local oysters and other shellfish, plus four different dipping sauces.

We've heard Mama's on the Half Shell and Red Star also have delicious versions of the spicy red brunch imbiber. And if staying home is more your thing, we love the mixers from Oxford Falls, which are available at Towson Wine and Spirits and other stores around the area.

What's your favorite brunch spot? What do you think is the best Bloody Mary in Baltimore? We'd love to add it to our list.
